Women's World Cup star Richa becomes West Bengal DSP
India's star wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh has added a new title to her name: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the West Bengal Police, following in the footsteps of fellow national cricketers like Deepti Sharma and Mohammad Siraj.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally handed over the honour at Eden Gardens on Saturday, along with the prestigious Banga Bhushan Award.

The Cricket Association of Bengal also recognised Richa's World Cup heroics, presenting her with Golden Bat and Golden Ball awards, a 3.4 million rupee cash prize, and a gold chain from the CM. India cricket icons Sourav Ganguly and Jhulan Goswami attended the ceremony, which also honoured Richa's parents.
Since making her international debut in 2020, Richa has grown into a match-winner. The 22-year-old scored 235 runs in eight matches during the recent Women's World Cup, including a blazing 94 against South Africa in the league stage and a crucial 34 in the final, helping India lift the trophy.
