Two players of the Australian women's cricket team were harassed by a motorcyclist in Indore, where they are due to play South Africa in their final league game of the Women's World Cup on Saturday, said Cricket Australia (CA).

"CA can confirm two members of the Australian Women's team were approached and touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist while walking to a cafe in Indore," CA said in a statement.

"The matter was reported by team security to police, who are handling the matter."

The incident occurred on Thursday morning while the players were walking to a café. The defending champions had beaten England the day before in Indore.

The Australian team's security manager Danny Simmons filed a complaint at the MIG police station on Thursday evening.

According to Indian news agency PTI, the local police on Friday arrested the man involved in the incident.

Australia are unbeaten in the World Cup so far.
