Rain returns after Tigresses sent to bat by India

Bangladesh lost the toss and were sent to bat first against hosts India in their final match in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, India on Monday.

The toss got delayed by around 30 minutes due to some rainfall but no overs were lost. But soon after the coin flip, dark clouds returned and the wicket was back under covers, as the rain returned.

Bangladesh made one change for the match as Sumaiya Akter returned in place of Fargana Hoque, while Uma Chetry is set to debut for India.

The Tigresses had started their campaign with a win over Pakistan, but have failed to register another victory since then and find themselves at the bottom of the eight-team table with two points from six games.

Nigar Sultana and Co had fought well against England and South Africa, but could not get the job done and against Sri Lanka they blundered what should have been an easy win, needing just 12 runs off the last 12 balls with six wickets in hand but losing the match by seven runs.

India, on the other hand, confirmed a place in the semifinal as the fourth team with a thumping ...-run win over New Zealand, making today's match a mere formality.
