Group G permutation: Who will join Brazil in last 16?
Group G
Team | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | GD | Points |
Brazil | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 6 |
Switzerland | 2 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 3 |
Cameroon | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | -1 | 1 |
Serbia | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | -2 | 1 |
Brazil have already cemented their spot in the last 16 and will go through as group champions as long as they avoid defeat against third-placed Cameroon, who would first need to win but would have to bank on other results going their way to qualify.
On the account of a Brazil loss, Switzerland would have the opportunity to go top with a win over Serbia but would have to make it a big win as they have a three-goal disadvantage on goal difference compared to the five-time champions.
In the unlikely scenario that Brazil lose, it would become a winner-take-all scenario between Switzerland and Serbia.
Murat Yakin's Switzerland would go through with a win over Serbia but if they share the spoils with Mitrovic-led Serbia and Cameroon beat Brazil then the two sides would be tied on four points with goal difference separating them.
If a Serbia win is coupled with a Cameroon victory, then Dragan Stojkovic's side's fate will be decided on goal difference with Cameroon.
