BPL 2025

Overseas stars begin turning up in Dhaka for BPL

Cricketers from overseas have started flying into Dhaka to take part in the forthcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) today and franchises are hoping to begin training with their respective foreign recruits from tomorrow.

Chittagong Kings, Durbar Rajshahi, Rangpur Riders and Fortune Barishal trained with their local players at their respective practice venues today while Dhaka Capitals opted for a rest day.

Meanwhile, the other two participating franchises Sylhet Strikers and Khulna Titans will start their training from tomorrow and the next day respectively.

Dhaka's English wicketkeeper-batter Stephen Eskinazi arrived in the country in the morning while Sri Lanka's Thisara Perera and Afghanistan's Amir Hamza are set to join them before the team's practice session tomorrow at the National Cricket Academy Ground in Mirpur, scheduled to start at 01:00 pm.

Barishal, who played a match scenario practice game at the PKSP, had their Afghan recruit Mohammad Nabi at the dugout today but he along with Pakistan's Shaheen Shah Afridi, Faheem Ashraf, Khan Jahandad, Ali Mohammad and West Indies' Kyle Mayers will join them officially in training at the Academy Ground in Mirpur tomorrow at 11:00 am.

Chittagong head coach Shaun Tait and Rangpur head coach Mickey Arthur had a busy day as they oversaw a training session of their local players and both teams hope that their foreign recruits will join them in their next session. Rangpur's Irish all-rounder Curtis Campher has already landed in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, Dhaka are unlikely to get the service of Pakistan's top-order batter Saim Ayub, who they signed from the players' draft, due to NoC complications while Rangpur management has already confirmed that Afghanistan's AM Ghazanfar and USA's Saurabh Netravalkar, who they picked as direct signings, won't be available for them in the tournament.
