Every team has the ability to beat India: Simmons

In the Asia Cup, India's dominant form has made it look like all the other teams are lagging far behind. But Bangladesh's head coach, Phil Simmons, thinks differently. He believes every team in the tournament has the ability to beat India, and Bangladesh are no exception.

On Wednesday in Dubai, Litton Das and Co will face India in the Super Four stage. Given India's current form, fans and supporters hardly expect Bangladesh to win.

Simmons, however, stressed that it's not about what India have done so far, but about what happens on the day of the match:

"Every team has the ability to beat India. The game is played on the day. It's not about what India have done before. It's about what happens on Wednesday. It's what happens during that three-and-a-half-hour period, and we will try to play as best as we can and hope to force mistakes in India's armory. That's the way we win games."

In international T20 cricket, Bangladesh have managed to beat India only once in 17 meetings, and that too in a bilateral series. In multinational tournaments, India have remained untouchable in the shortest format. For Bangladesh to overcome them, belief is key.

Simmons insists that the Tigers have that belief:

"There has to be belief. Having sat down today and spoken about things, there's a lot of belief that we have that chance. If we get a break in the game, we have to hold on to it and take the chances, and we will have an opportunity to win a game against India."
