Defending champions India take on Pakistan in a much-anticipated Asia Cup clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium tonight (8:30 pm Bangladesh Time). Even though both sides bring fresh new looks -- India led by Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan under the captaincy of Salman Ali Agha -- the rivalry between the two politically intertwined sides remains unmatched.

Here are some highlights ahead of the much-hyped clash:

  • India and Pakistan have faced off 13 times in T20Is. India have won 10 times, while Pakistan have won three. Pakistan's last victory in this format came in 2022, a five-wicket win during an Asia Cup match in Dubai.
  • India and Pakistan have faced off 18 times in the Asia Cup across ODI and T20I formats. Out of 15 ODI clashes, India have won eight, Pakistan five, while two ended in no result. In T20Is, the two sides have met three times, with India winning twice and Pakistan once.
  • Since 2024, India have lost only three of their 32 T20Is. Pakistan have won eight of their last 10 matches in this format.
  • For the first time since 2012, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not feature in an India-Pakistan T20I. The Indian duo appeared in the last 11 clashes between the sides in this format. Both retired from T20Is last year following India's triumph in the ICC T20 World Cup.
