Hasan strikes to give Tigers first breakthrough
Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud removed Dimuth Karunaratne in the sixth over to give the Tigers their first breakthrough against Sri Lanka in the crucial Asia Cup Super Four match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today.
Karunaratne played a brilliant straight drive on the previous ball but Hasan responded with an absolute jaffa. This was back of a length pitching on leg, and then seaming and swinging away to square up the left-hander who could do nothing but look to defend this, and it feathered the edge through to wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim.
Sri Lanka posted 55 for one in 11 overs.
Earlier, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bowl first against Sri Lanka in their second Asia Cup Super-Four encounter.
