Afif appointed as Shakib's deputy for Asia Cup
Bangladesh batting-allrounder Afif Hossain Dhrubo has been given the role of the vice-captain of the Tigers in the Asia Cup by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), confirmed a BCB press release on Saturday night.
The 22-year-old has played 47 T20Is since making his debut in February, 2018. A key component in the middle-order, who also bowls as a part-time off-spinner if needed, Afif is hailed as one of promising players for Bangladesh in the long run.
Alongside assisting Shakib Al Hasan, another recently appointed captain in the side, Afif might feature in another new role as the number four batter in the Bangladesh batting order, starting from August 30 against Afghanistan in Sharjah.
So far in T20Is, Afif has scored 698 runs in 42 innings, with an average of 19 and a strike-rate of 118. He has scalped eight wickets in 16 innings as well.
