Officials from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been found guilty of betting on the glitzy Twenty20 tournament matches.

The two teams, which have been suspended for two years, will now face heavy sanctions from the Supreme Court-appointed Rajendra Mal Lodha panel, reports our Kolkata correspondent.

The panel suspended Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra, two key persons of the two teams from all cricket matches for life because of their involvement with betting.

Meiyappan is the team principal of CSK and son-in-law of International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman N Srinivasan while Kundra is the co-owner of RR.

The RR were the inaugural IPL edition winners while the CSK two-time champions.

The decision will uphold the paramountcy of the game of cricket, said Justice Lodha.
