Tattooed Jose auctions watch

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho helped to raise thousands of pounds at a charity dinner - by auctioning off his watch as a last-minute lot.

The Portuguese boss delighted guests at the United for Unicef gala dinner by auctioning 'The Mourinho Collection', consisting of his signed, worn Adidas hoodie, training top and the scarf he held high as he was unveiled as United manager on the Old Trafford pitch in July.

The 53-year-old also offered a very generous last minute lot: his very own watch which is valued at around £16,000 which he took off his wrist to donate. The collection of items raised over £30,000 alone - and helped the event as a whole raise an incredible £215,000.

Mourinho said: "Charity is one of the amazing things in society and I have always been very supportive of Unicef. You know that the money is going to the right place and is going to make a big difference.

"Tonight the money is going to help children in Thailand so we know that we are going to contribute to a better future – I think it is difficult to have a better feeling than that."

Mourinho was joined at the event by his players, including Bastian Schweinsteiger following his return to first-team training.

Rarely without a timepiece, fans also got a rare glimpse of the Special One's eye-catching wrist tattoo after he unbuckled his Big Bang Unico Bi-Retrograde Chrono Titanium Ceramic watch.

Mourinho, a devoted family man, got his first tattoo upon returning to manage Chelsea for his second spell at the club in July, 2013.
