More women booters in Bhutan league

Contracted players to get salaries after accounts are opened

Sven footballers of the Bangladesh women's team are expected to leave for Bhutan to play in the Bhutan National Women's League after the Eid-ul-Fitr break.

Following the recruitment of Masura Parvin and Rupna Chakma by Transport United, five other footballers have been roped in by Paro FC for league, which is scheduled to begin on April 15.

The five players roped in by Paro FC are: Sabina Khatun, Monika Chakma, Rituporna Chakma, Matsushima Sumaya and Mosammat Sagorika.

Nationa; team's former captain Sabina confirmed the news to the Daily Star, saying: "Yes, we are leaving on April 6."

Bangladesh Football Federation's vice-president Fahad Karim, too, confirmed that the procedure regarding their appearance in Bhutanese league has all been done.

"All seven of them will hopefully leave on April 6. We have done our bit in making the communications. There is an issue with Sagorika's ticket though, but we hope all of them can go together," Karim said.

Peter Butler, the English head coach of the women's team, will return on the same day and will likely start the camp with the remaining players – both senior national team and the under-20 team. Karim said that if the team management wishes, it can call back any of the players from Bhutan any time to join the camp.

Meanwhile, the BFF vice-president claimed that the 36 young footballers, who signed contract with the BFF amid the boycott of training camp by the 18 senior players, will get their first month's salaries after Eid.

"The thing is many of them didn't have bank accounts. And we wanted to switch the accounts of those that had bank accounts, to our sponsor bank, so it took time. However, we had asked the girls if they wanted to take the salaries in other forms, but they said they would take those once the accounts are created," Karim told The Daily Star.
