Mohammedan receive transfer ban after Bashundhara Kings
FIFA on Wednesday imposed a transfer ban on Mohammedan SC following their failure to clear dues of an Iranian footballer who played for the Black and Whites in the 2022-23 season.
"Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited (the Respondent) has not yet complied with its financial obligations towards Meysam Shah Makvand Zadeh," read FIFA's letter to Mohammedan SC.
"In this regard, we wish to inform the parties that a ban from registering new players internationally and nationally has been implemented by FIFA on the Respondent. The registration ban will remain active until the amount due is paid and for a maximum duration of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods," it added.
It has been learned from the club officials that the amount of unpaid wages is USD 60 thousand.
The current Bangladesh Football League champions are in a financial crisis and the transfer ban means they will not be able to sign players even in the mid-season transfer window of the ongoing season.
The letter also asked the Bangladesh Football Federation to immediately implement the transfer ban on Mohammedan at the national level, if not done yet.
As per the FIFA registration ban portal, FIFA disciplinary committee also imposed three transfer bans on Bashundhara Kings for five cases while Sheikh Jamal DC were also given same punishment for two cases in January this year. Now-defunct Feni Soccer Club was also imposed a transfer ban in 2022.
