BFF takes initiative to arrange women’s matches in Korea

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Kazi Salahuddin yesterday urged Lee Jang-Keun, ambassador of the Korean Embassy in Bangladesh, to make room for the Bangladesh women's football team to play matches in Korea.

Jang-Keun had a courtesy meeting with Salahuddin at the BFF House following the historic SAFF triumph of the women in red and green. The two also discussed the 50-year diplomatic relation between Bangladesh and Korea.

Expressing his happiness from visiting the BFF house for the first time, the Korean ambassador said, "Timing is very good because of the festive atmosphere after the Bangladesh women's football team won the SAFF Women's Championship."

The BFF president said, "It was a courtesy meeting and we discussed different aspects. I requested him to arrange some competitive matches for our women's football team in Korea. If it happens in the future, our women's football team will get sharper from playing against the strong teams in Korea.

"Besides, we also discussed the development of our youth coaches, who may visit Korea or Korean experts can visit Bangladesh to train up our youth coaches," added Salahuddin, who also informed that he would meet the Korean Football Association (KFA) president on October 17 in Kuala Lumpur to further discuss the prospect of collaborating on arranging football events.

The Korean ambassador said he is keen on discussing about how close the two parties can collaborate on the matter. 

"Sports has been a very important instrument to connect the people of two countries, so we have to collaborate," Jang-Keun continued.

 "Next year, Korea and Bangladesh celebrate 50-year of diplomatic ties. I also discussed how and whether we will collaborate in the coming days."
