Bangladesh held by Bhutan in women's futsal
Bangladesh fought back from 3-1 down to hold Bhutan to a thrilling 3-3 draw in their second match of the inaugural SAFF Women's Futsal Championship in Bangkok on Saturday.
After an impressive opening-match win over India, Bangladesh were pushed hard at the Nonthaburi Stadium as Bhutan took an early lead in the fifth minute. The setback was short-lived, however, as Matsushima Sumaiya restored parity with a powerful long-range strike from midfield.
The match remained evenly contested before Bhutan regained control early in the second half and extended their lead to 3-1 by the 30th minute.
Bangladesh then showed strong character to mount a spirited comeback. Captain Sabina Khatun reduced the deficit with a fine individual effort before Masura Parveen capitalised on a defensive error to draw Bangladesh level just a minute later.
Bangladesh pressed for a late winner but had to settle for a point. They will play their third match against Sri Lanka on January 21.
