Bangladesh Army team in Kolkata for Durand Cup
Bangladesh Army football team have reached Kolkata to participate in the 132nd edition of the Durand Cup, one of the oldest football tournaments in the world. Bangladesh Army will play in Group A, alongside Mohun Bagan Super Giants, East Bengal and Punjab FC.
The Bangladeshi outfit will play their first match on August 3 against Mohun Bagan SG before squaring off against East Bengal on August 6. Their last match of the group is against Punjab on August 10. All three games will be played at the Salt Lake Stadium.
Bangladesh Army are one of the two foreign invited teams in this 24-team tournament, with the other being Tribhuvan Army of Nepal.
The Bangladeshi outfit, who usually participate in some top-tier domestic cup competitions, have taken on loan six players from different clubs of the Bangladesh Premier League to increase their strength.
Among them are goalkeeper Ashraful Islam Rana, left-back Kamrul Islam, right-back Rajib, midfielder Minhaj, forwards Zafar Iqbal and Sajjad Hossain.
