Another defeat ends Kings' AFC Challenge League campaign

Bashundhara Kings endured another disappointing continental campaign, losing all three of their group matches in the AFC Challenge League.

In their final Group B fixture at the Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Stadium in Kuwait on Friday night, the Kings suffered a 2-0 defeat against Kuwait Sports Club.

The hosts struck early when Yousef Nasser headed home from a cross in the opening minute to give Kuwait SC the lead. Just before halftime, Taha Yassine Khenissi doubled the advantage with a precise right-footed finish following a well-orchestrated attack, sealing the fate of the visiting side.

Bashundhara's goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico started for the first time in the tournament and captained the side, replacing Mehedi Hasan Shrabon between the posts. However, the change failed to inspire a turnaround as the Kings once again came up short

The team also faced an unexpected setback before the final match when their bus suffered a tire burst en route to the stadium. Fortunately, no one was injured, though the incident delayed their arrival.

In their opening match on October 25, Bashundhara Kings lost 3-2 to Oman's Al-Seeb, despite leading 2-1 at one stage. Their second outing ended in a 3-0 defeat to Lebanon's Al-Ansar, and Friday's loss meant the Bangladeshi side finished the group with just one goal scored and seven conceded.

The result mirrors last year's campaign, where Bashundhara Kings also lost all three of their group-stage matches, underlining their ongoing struggles to make an impact on the continental stage.
