Rain bar at Asia Cup final

Sudden rain accompanied with gusty winds have cast an uncertainty over the Asia Cup final match between Bangladesh and India set to start this evening.

With incessant rain that began from 6:00pm, the power was out at the packed Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, our correspondent reports from spot.

The rain, accompanied by light to moderate gusty winds, might persist until 7:30pm across Dhaka, Ripon Chandra Sarkar, an official at the Met office, told The Daily Star.

Meanwhile, throughout Dhaka, heavy rain accompanied with thunders and gusty winds was persisting until last around 6:45pm.

The pitch was already under covers. Water had accumulated in several parts of the ground. If the match does not roll, Bangladesh and India will be the joint winners of Asia Cup.
