Just hours after the senior team got pummeled by eight wickets by West Indies in a T20I, the Bangladesh Under-19 Women's team thrashed their West Indian counterparts by 10 wickets in their Super Six Group 1 match of the ICC Women's U-19 T20 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today.

The match was reduced to a 13-over-a-side contest after a rain delay. West Indies, sent to bat, posted 54-6 in their allotted overs with off-spinner Nishita Akter Nishi taking 3-11 in her three overs.

Bangladesh openers Jurairiya Ferdous and Fahomida Choya formed an unbroken 55-run stand for the first wicket as Bangladesh cruised to the target in just 8.5 overs with all 10 wickets intact.

Jurairiya remained unbeaten on 25 off 28 balls while Fahomida made 14 not out off 25 deliveries.

However, this victory was not enough for Bangladesh to secure a spot in the semifinals as Australia and India have already booked the slots from Group 1 for the knockout stage.

Still, the Bangladesh girls end their campaign in Malaysia on a happy note with the win.

Earlier, the young Tigresses beat Nepal and Scotland in the group-stage to qualify for the Super Six.
