‘We are all inspired by pacers’
Bangladesh attained their biggest-margin win in ODIs when they thrashed Ireland by 183 runs in the opening game of the three-match series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
The batters showed intent in the middle overs which led to their highest score of 338 for eight in ODIs so far before the bowlers dismantled Ireland for 155.
Under cloud covers and light drizzles, there was no practice session at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium but spin coach Rangana Herath talked to the media at the ground.
Herath, who was celebrating his birthday today, cut his birthday cake along with head coach Chandika Hathurusingha and captain Tamim Iqbal. Herath said that the pace attack has inspired others to reach a new level.
"We are all inspired by pacers. We have a good fast bowling attack now. Overall, we have a good batting and fast bowling and spin. It is good for Bangladesh cricket," he said.
Ebadot Hossain bagged four wickets and Taskin Ahmed took two to help bowl out Ireland within 31 overs.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz had suffered an injury which saw blood clot in his eyes. Herath said that the spinner is still being monitored.
"He will be monitored today as well. He will consult with the doctors, so once we know, we will let you know," he said.
