U19s take 2-1 lead after seven-wicket win over Pakistan

Bangladesh U-19 Women's side took a 2-1 lead against Pakistan, defeating the visitors by seven wickets in the third T20 of the five-match series at Cox's Bazar Academy Ground on Sunday.

The youngsters restricted Pakistan to 86 for 8with pacer Habiba Islam Pinky and left-arm spinner Otoshi Mojumder the stars of the show, with two wickets apiece while the Tigresses also effected two run outs.

The Tigresses were in early trouble, losing two wickets for 8 runs after openers Aritry Nirjona and Sumaiya Akter fell cheaply. Skipper Sadiya Islam went on the counterattack with a 28-ball 35, laced with three fours and three sixes. Although Sadiya lost her wicket in the 10th over, Jannat Emanta finished the chase with a 25-ball 30.

Earlier, Pakistan started their innings positively after skipper Eman Naseer hit a 16-ball 23. Bangladesh however had a tight grip on the game after Otoshi accounted for Eman. Pakistan were tottering at 58 for 7 in the 15th over before Memoona Khalid (18) and Mahnoor Zeb's (12) late contributions got the visitors to 86.

The fourth match of the series will be played on Wednesday, December 10.
