Shanto backs Rana and other players' bid to play PSL

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto feels that the likes of Nahid Rana and others who have been drafted in by Pakistan Super League (PSL) sides will get valuable experience playing in franchise cricket.
Nahid Rana was picked by Peshwar Zalmi in the PSL draft. The PSL begins on April 11 with Peshwar's first fixture on April 12. There are also doubts regarding Bangladesh's players' NOCs with the Zimbabwe Test series slated to begin on April 20.
Rana has applied for NOC today while Liton Das and Rishad Hossain are expected to apply in the coming days.
Shanto backed Rana and other players' prospects in the PSL although he maintained that the board will take the call on the matter, taking into consideration the coach and captain's opinion.
"I think they should of course play in these kinds of franchise cricket but it will wholly depend on the cricket board, coach and captain and other factors. But I think that if our players start featuring in these kinds of franchise tournaments, they will gather experience and learn to take that sort of responsibility," Shanto said.
Many foreign stars will feature in the PSL, one of the most competitive T20 franchise leagues in the world. Shanto felt that sharing a dressing room with such players will give the Bangladesh players valuable experience.
"The foreign players with whom they will be sharing dressing room, will also be a very good overall experience. So I will hope that our players get the opportunity to play these tournaments in future," Shnato said after Abahani's practice session today.
