Shakib's name withdrawn from DPL

Legends of Rupganj had made headlines yesterday having drafted in all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to the side for the upcoming Dhaka Premier League but the club today sent a letter to CCDM requesting that Shakib's name be withdrawn.
"We have gotten a letter, not from Shakib but the club, requesting that Shakib's name be withdrawn," a CCDM official told The Daily Star today.
One of the reasons cited were that Shakib was not physically present during the players' transfer which started yesterday. There were other circumstances cited which Shakib had discussed with the club, sources informed.
The letter was sent to CCDM chairman and the club also expressed sorrow in regards to the situation.
Shakib had previously been unable to return to the country to play his farewell Test for the Tigers during the home series against South Africa.
Shakib is also currently serving a bowling ban for an illegal action. His action was flagged by the ECB after his lone match for Surrey in last year's September and on December 10, after an independent test, the ban was imposed.
The all-rounder was also not picked for the ongoing Champions Trophy after he failed a second bowling test in Chennai.
Today is the last day of the DPL's players' transfer window with various players coming in during the day to register with respective clubs for the upcoming season.
