Sachin denies rumours of BCCI presidency bid

India legend Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday dismissed speculations that he is in the running for the post of president the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Tendulkar's firm SRT Sports Management Pvt Ltd issued a statement on his behalf terming all such speculations as "unfounded."

"It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)," read a statement from the company.

"We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place," the statement said adding "we urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations."

Earlier, former India all-rounder Roger Binny stepped down as BCCI president after turning 70 in July.

The BCCI will conduct elections for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary and treasurer on September 28 at its Annual General Meeting.
