Records at a glance after Tigers snap winless streak in style
Bangladesh sealed a 2-1 series victory over the West Indies with a commanding 179-run win in the third and final ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.
*Bangladesh snapped a run of four consecutive ODI series defeats. It was their first bilateral series win since beating Sri Lanka at home in March 2024 and also Mehidy Hasan Miraz's maiden series win as captain.
*Bangladesh's 179-run victory was their second-biggest in ODIs, just four runs short of their record 183-run win over Ireland in Sylhet in 2023. It was also their largest-ever win against the West Indies.
*Saif Hassan registered his maiden ODI half-century with a 72-ball 80, featuring six fours and six sixes. Soumya Sarkar, meanwhile, smashed an 86-ball 91 -- his 14th fifty in the format.
*The pair's 176-run opening stand was the highest for Bangladesh in ODIs at Mirpur, surpassing the previous record of 150 set by Imrul Kayes and Anamul Haque against Pakistan in 2014.
*It was also Bangladesh's highest opening partnership against the West Indies, eclipsing the 144-run stand between Tamim Iqbal and Soumya in Dublin, Ireland in May 2019.
*The stand ended a long drought -- it was Bangladesh's first 100-plus opening partnership in ODIs after 45 innings. The last came when Tamim and Liton Das shared an unbroken 102-run stand in their 10-wicket win over Ireland in Sylhet in March 2023.
*Rishad Hossain was named Player of the Series for his all-round display, scoring 68 runs and taking 12 wickets — the most in the series. Soumya topped the run charts with 140 runs.
