Preparation not the best for Champions Trophy: Simmons

Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons said that the team's preparation heading into the ICC Champions Trophy has been less than ideal but hopes that his charges will quickly get back into the ODI groove before the tournament begins.
"I agree that it is not the best preparation. But they were playing white-ball cricket, which means that they are sharp skills-wise," Simmons told the media in a press conference in Mirpur today.
"We have to get their minds up to 50-over cricket in the next six or seven days. They have the skills. They are performing. It is about getting to that 50-over mentality now," he added.
The Bangladesh players are currently in a training camp in Mirpur ahead of the Champions Trophy. The camp began a day after the 11th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) final on February 7.
While teams like India, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand and England are busy with ODI assignments right before the Champions Trophy, the Tigers have just finished playing a T20 tournament for over a month.
However, Simmons remained optimistic, saying, "We have not seen any residue from the BPL in the days of training camp so far. Players are looking to get time in the middle, to get into the frame of mind of batting long and bowling in the right areas in 50-over cricket. I don't think it is going to affect them in any way."
The Bangladesh team will leave for the UAE in the early hours of February 14 and will play their opening Group A match against India on February 20.
