West Indies levelled the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in dramatic fashion, clinching a Super Over thriller in the second game at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

Wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan Sohan dropped Khary Pierre off the final delivery of the 50th over, allowing the left-hander to cross for a single that tied the match and forced Bangladesh into their first-ever Super Over in men's international cricket and their first tie in 813 matches.

The visitors managed 10 runs in the Super Over bowled by Mustafizur Rahman, with Shai Hope unbeaten on seven off three balls and Sherfane Rutherford contributing three off two. In reply, Akeal Hosein restricted the hosts to nine runs, sealing a narrow win for the West Indies.

Bangladesh were gifted with two wides, a no-ball, and a leg bye during the Super Over but failed to capitalise. Soumya Sarkar managed a run-a-ball three, while Saif Hassan scored two off three deliveries as the Tigers fell short once again. Najmul Hossain Shanto failed to make contact but ran a leg bye before Saif could not score the required three off the final delivery.

Earlier, skipper Shai Hope (53 off 67) anchored the West Indies innings with the only half-century of the match as the visitors levelled a the 213-run total. With five runs required off the final over, Saif Hassan bowled two dot balls before conceding a single. Hope then rotated the strike, leaving No. 10 batter Akeal Hosein (16 off 17) , playing his first game of the tour, on strike. Saif struck immediately, bowling Hosein between his legs to bring Pierre to the crease with three needed from the final ball.

Pierre top-edged the last delivery towards square leg, and Sohan ran in for the catch but dropped it. Unable to relay the ball quickly to Mustafizur at the stumps, Nurul allowed Pierre and Hope to complete two runs, taking the match into a Super Over.

The contest also produced a world record, as the West Indies became the first team in men's ODI history to bowl all 50 overs with spin. The previous record was held by Sri Lanka, who delivered 44 overs of spin against Australia in 2004. Bangladesh's spinners bowled 42 overs of their own, taking the match tally to 92 overs of spin, another record for an ODI.

Batting first, Bangladesh posted 213 for seven, led by a late surge from Rishad Hossain, who smashed an unbeaten 39 off 14 balls, featuring three sixes and three fours. Coming in at No. 9 in the 47th over, Rishad and Mehidy Hasan Miraz added an unbroken 50-run stand off 24 balls, lifting the hosts past 200. Mehidy remained not out on 32 off 58, while Sohan contributed 23 off 24, putting on 35 runs before falling in the 46th over.

Bangladesh had earlier won the first ODI by 74 runs at the same venue. The series decider will be played on Thursday, also in Mirpur.

Rishad cameo sees Tigers post 213 for 7

Bangladesh posted 213 for seven in the second ODI against the West Indies in Mirpur, thanks largely to Rishad Hossain's 14-ball 39.

Rishad, coming in at number nine in the 47th over, pushed the score past 200 with some massive hits. His unbeaten 39 was laced with three sixes and three fours. Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten on 32 off 58 but the unbroken stand of 50 off just 24 deliveries put the sail on Bangladesh's score late in the innings.
Nurul Hasan left an impact with a 24-ball 23 and strung together a 35-run stand before he departed in the 46th over.

The game also saw a world record as all five spinners West Indies used, went onto complete fifty overs. It was the first time in the history of men's ODI that a team has completed the full quota of overs with spinners. The previous record had belonged to Sri Lanka, who bowled 44 overs of spin against Australia back in 2004.

Nasum departs as Tigers trudge along into death overs

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nasum Ahmed consolidated with a 25-run stand off 48 deliveries before Nasum was holed out in the 39th over off Gudakesh Motie.

The Tigers are trudging along into the death overs with Nurul Hasan the new batter coming into the crease. Scoring at just 3.28 per over, Bangladesh are 128 for six in 39 overs and would need some effort to to get anywhere close to the 230-240 that Miraz said they need to target.

Tigers in a tangle on Mirpur turner

Bangladesh lost half their side within the 31st over, managing a run-rate just above 3 on a rank turner in the second ODI against the West Indies at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

Soumya Sarkar was the fifth batter to fall, holing out to Kharry Pierre in the deep of Akeal Hosein for 45 (89).

....

Opener Soumya Sarkar held one end up as Bangladesh meandered along to 88 for three at the halfway stage.

Soumya was batting on 36 off 71 deliveries with Mahidul Islam Ankon batting on 12 as Soumya tried to build partnerships with partners falling at the other end.

The three wickets to fall were those of Saif Hassan (6), Tawhid Hridoy (12) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (15). Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie and Alick Athanaze -- all spinners -- accounted for the three dismissals.

..................

Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz opted to bat first in the second ODI against the west Indies in Mirpur on Tuesday.

Having won the first match by 74 runs, Bangladesh will be looking to wrap up the series and shore up some valuable ranking points through this series.

The hosts made only one change from the first match, with left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed replacing pacer Taskin Ahmed on this spin-friendly surface.

West Indies made two changes. Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein comes in for Jayden Seales, and Ackeem Auguste is making his debut today, replacing Romario Shepherd.

Speaking to broadcasters at the toss, Miraz said: "I think 230 to 240 is a very good score on this wicket. We could have scored 30 runs more in the last match, because we did not play the full 50 overs. If we play 50 overs, we can definitely achieve that."
