Liton to cheer for Tigers from home

Bangladesh opener Liton Das vowed to cheer for his side as its biggest supporter as the Tigers depart for the Champions Trophy later tonight.
Liton was dropped due to a dismal run of form from the Bangladesh squad which will first fly to UAE and then to Pakistan to take part in the major ICC event, starting on February 19.
"All the best to this wonderful team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025! I believe this team will give their best in this prestigious tournament. Let the world witness how the Tigers play!" Liton posted on his official Facebook page on Monday.
"I couldn't make it to the squad, but that makes me the biggest supporter of the team. I'll be cheering for every run, wicket, and catch. You have your 16th man with you in a different role!" he added.
During a recent press-conference, Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons said that the seasoned batter has been working hard to get back into the side.
"Obviously, he was disappointed with not being selected but I think he has taken it on the chin. He has worked on his batting during the BPL. We saw him come back into a bit of form," Simmons said in a recent press briefing at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
"You will miss a player like him, but at the same time, we all know that he has accepted the fact that he wasn't scoring runs when the team was being selected. He is working very hard to get back," he added.
Bangladesh begin their campaign against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 20, before taking on New Zealand and hosts Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on February 24 and 27, respectively. The Tigers will play a warm-up game against Pakistan Shaheens on February 17 at the ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai to ramp up preparations.
