Kiely resigns as Tigers’ strength and conditioning coach

Nathan Kiely, Bangladesh team's strength and conditioning coach, has resigned from his role citing personal reasons.

"I've stepped away from my role with the Bangladesh National Team. It was a very difficult decision, but ultimately one made for personal reasons. My wife and I recently welcomed our first child, and without any immediate family support here in Australia, it became clear that I needed to prioritise being home during this period," Kiely told The Daily Star.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) cricket operation chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim also confirmed the matter to The Daily Star on Monday adding that they have recently received his resignation letter.

"He has a newborn baby and it's difficult for him for come here leaving them [baby and wife] behind," Fahim said.

"He has informed us that it won't be possible for him to continue. We will now look into the matter," he added.

The Australian earlier joined the BCB on a two-year contract beginning April 15 last year.

Kiely earlier took a leave during the Asia Cup last month to be with his pregnant wife and since then trainer Iftikhairul Islam has been working with the Tigers in his absence.

Bangladesh didn't get Kiely's service in the last bilateral series against Afghanistan in the UAE as well as in the ongoing home series against West Indies.

Kiely was known for introducing 'time trail' in Bangladesh cricket. Previously, cricketers had to pass beep test or Yo-Yo Test but he introduced a 1600m time trail (4*400m race) to measure the fitness of the cricketers.
