Reports surfaced today that BCB director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim is in favour of resigning from the BCB. The reports mention his clash with BCB president Faruque Ahmed as having played a part.

Both Faruque and Fahim were appointed BCB directors through the NSC quota to fill key positions in the board after many board members went into hiding following the fall of the Awami League government.

The Daily Star reached out to Fahim regarding whether he was looking to resign.

"I am not sure. What I can do is that if certain things does not go the way I expect, in that case I will think along those lines," Fahim told The Daily Star.

It could be surmised that things have not gone according to Faheem's wishes. He also talked about interference without divulging whether any problems surfaced with BCB president.

"If there are interference to my work, then yes in that case … [will make that decision]," he added.

Asked whether there was any specifics behind his thinking, he said it was regarding overall running of the current board.

"It's overall actually. If things don't go as expected, it is unsatisfactory," he said, adding that he has not informed anything to the board regarding a resignation.

Asked whether he has made the decision to resign, he said the opportunity is there for him to do so.

"No I haven't said that [decision to resign have already been taken]. If unsatisfied, I can take that decision. It's an opportunity since that door is open. It's not like I have to stay by hook or crook. If I am not happy then that option is always there," he concluded.
