On a historic day for Bangladesh cricket, veteran Mushfiqur Rahim walked onto the pitch at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur this morning, preparing to play his 100th Test match--a milestone no Bangladeshi cricketer has ever achieved.

While the stadium buzzed with anticipation, one of Mushfiqur's closest teammates, Shakib Al Hasan, took to Facebook to share a deeply personal and inspiring message.

Accompanying a photograph of the two cricketing legends together, Shakib wrote: "I remember when you played your 1st Test match in Lord's. I watched every ball from the recreation room in BKSP. From that day on, you inspired me and countless cricketers in Bangladesh and beyond."

Mushfiqur, who debuted in 2005 at Lord's, has been a pillar of Bangladesh cricket for two decades. With 6,351 runs at an average of 38.02, including three double centuries, he holds the record as the country's highest run-getter in Test cricket. His journey has inspired a generation of cricketers, including Shakib himself, who fondly recalls watching the young Mushfiqur command the field as a captain even in age-level cricket.

"You have been playing for a while and you have given your best to your game. From the time you were leading age-level teams, I saw you as my captain, and till now and forever I play cricket, you will be my captain. Mushfiq bhai, on this auspicious moment, I wish you all the best for your 100th Test match, a historic feat for any cricketer. Just like I watched your first match, I will watch every ball you face on your 100th Test match. I hope you enjoy this match, and I wish I played it with you and celebrated your glory on the field."

In the series opener against Ireland in Sylhet, Mushfiqur scored 23 off 52 balls, contributing to Bangladesh's innings victory. But all eyes were on him for this milestone match in Mirpur, hoping to witness a memorable innings from the country's most experienced Test cricketer.
