Bangladesh U-17s thrash Sri Lanka in opening three-dayer
Bangladesh U-17 sealed a 27-run victory over Sri Lanka U-17 in the first of two three-day fixtures at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.
Defending a target of 266, Bangladesh bowled out Sri Lanka for 238 in their second innings on the final day. Rakibul Hossan starred with the ball, taking four wicket for 32 runs, while Maheenujjaman, Nubayet Alam and Sahidul Islam chipped in with two wickets each.
Sanul Weeraratne top-scored for Sri Lanka with 61 off 134 balls, and opener Arosha Sithumina added 40.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh resumed on 230 for eight but managed only 17 more runs before being bowled out for 247 in their second innings. Junayed Hossain, unbeaten on 87 overnight, fell without adding to his score -- dismissed by Nadun Bandara off the ninth ball of the morning.
Sri Lankan bowler Himaru Deshan impressed with figures of 6-83.
In the first innings, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 102 in reply to Bangladesh's 120, giving the hosts a narrow lead.
The second and final three-day match will take place at the Bashundhara Sports Complex from December 2–4. The teams will then head to Chattogram for a three-match one-day series.
