Babar overtakes Rohit as the top T20I run-getter
Babar Azam became the highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals as Pakistan cruised to a nine-wicket win over South Africa in the second T20I in Lahore on Friday, levelling the three-match series 1-1.
The Pakistan captain remained unbeaten on 11 from 18 deliveries, taking his tally to 4,234 runs to surpass India's Rohit Sharma. Earlier, opener Saim Ayub struck a blistering 71 off 38 balls and seamer Faheem Ashraf claimed 4-23 as the hosts dominated both with bat and ball.
After winning the toss and opting to field, Pakistan dismantled South Africa for just 110 in 19.2 overs, with Salman Mirza also starring with 3-14. Dewald Brevis was the only visiting batter to offer resistance, scoring 25 off 16 deliveries, as six wickets fell bowled amid Pakistan's sharp seam movement.
Chasing a modest target, Pakistan raced home with 41 balls to spare. Sahibzada Farhan contributed 28 off 23 before being trapped leg-before by Corbin Bosch. The sides will meet again on Saturday at the same venue for the series decider.
