Aleen ton sees U19s win against Afghanistan

Bangladesh U19s won the first one-day against Afghanistan U-19 by 5 runs via DLS with bad light seeing the game determined by Duckworth-Lewis system at the Shahid Chandu Stadium in Bogura today.

Afghanistan had banked on Uzairullah Niazai's 137-ball 140 to post 265 for 9 after opting to bat. Md Iqbal Hossain Emon bagged five for 57 runs while RIzan Hossain scalped two wickets.

In reply Bangladesh U19s lost opener Zawad Abrar and Azizul Hakim Tamim early and Rifat Beg followed the back to the dugout after a 30-ball 26.

Kalam Siddiki Aleen and Rizan were the architects of Bangladesh win with the former hitting a 119-ball 101, laced with 11 fours. The duo put on 139 for the fourth wicket before Kalam departed in the 40th over.

Rizan held up one end and struck an unbeaten 75. Bangladesh reached 231 for four, needing 35 off 24 deliveries before bad light saw the game decided by DLS method.

The second match will be held at the same venue on Friday before the series moves to Rajshahi.
