Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly suggested, that only leadership will define Virat Kohli, not the runs. Kohli's legacy will be judged by where he leaves the team as a captain.Ganguly spoke about Kohli and the other players on a chat with Harsha Bhogle with Cricbuzz.

“Virat Kohli will not be judged just by the runs he scores. That'll remain, he will keep scoring runs till the time he plays because he's a very good player. But for me, Virat Kohli will be judged by how he takes Indian cricket with him. And that's very, very important. Hope he has the right people around him, to guide him and make sure that life becomes a little easy for him,”the former India captain was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

“Because it's going to get harder. With overseas trips, the longer he spends as captain, his form - up and down - so it's only going to get harder. So hopefully he has people around him who help him and guide him. And that will be his legacy - where he leaves Indian cricket as a captain," Gangulyconcluded.

The star India batsman has been prolific with the bat, scoring 9,779 runs in 211 matches with 35 centuries and 48 half-centuries in ODIs at an average of 58.20. In Tests he has scored 5,554 runs at an average of 53.40 with 21 tons and 16 half centuries. India have won 39 of the 52 ODI matches that they have played under Kohli since he became captain in 2013 with a win percentage of 76.47.

In Tests, India have won 60 percent of the matches they played under his captaincy, winning 21 out of 35 Tests, with five draws and nine losses. Kohli is now equal to Ganguly in terms of number of Test wins as captain. Under Ganguly, India won 21 out of 49 matches with a win rate of 42.85 percent.
