Mustafizur's surgery scheduled for August 11
Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman will undergo a shoulder surgery on August 11 in England, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official revealed earlier today.
Renowned surgeon Andew Wallace will be conducting the operation, BCB director Jalal Yunus told The Daily Star. A well-known surgeon, Wallace has operated on the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virendar Sehwag in the past.
According to his profile on the website of Fortius clinic, he is the principal orthopaedic shoulder surgeon to professional rugby clubs in the south of England and to the English Rugby Football Union, and has treated elite athletes from Premier League football clubs, the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the British Olympic Association, the British Judo Association and the English Institute of Sport.
Mustafizur, who had scalped a four-wicket haul in his first game for Sussex on July 21, suffered a recurrence of his shoulder injury after the second game the next day. He has been waiting in England since last week for a decision regarding his surgery from the BCB.
The BCB had consulted many doctors before settling on Wallace.
