Sabbir to resume practice from tomorrow

Bangladesh batsman and valiant hero of the first Test Sabbir Rahman has undergone an endoscopy today, which found that there was nothing wrong with the 22-year-old other than normal gastric pain.

The batsman missed today's practice session ahead of Friday's second Test against England at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur to undergo the endoscopy, but was told after the procedure that he can practise with his national teammates from tomorrow. 

Sabbir had complained of stomach pain after his unbeaten 63 in the second innings of the first Test against England in Chittagong on Monday, which Bangladesh lost by 22 runs, but it was found today that there was nothing serious surrounding the complaint. He was given some dietary advice by the doctors. 

Sabbir, who made his debut in the first Test against England, ended his first match with an average of 82 after hitting innings of 19 and 63 not out, the latter of which saw him stranded as the batsmen at the other end lost their wickets during a thrilling chase of 286 that would have given Bangladesh their first Test win over England. 

The 14-man squad for the Chittagong Test became a 15-member one for Dhaka with the exclusion of pacer Shafiul Islam and the inclusions of pacer Subhasish Roy and batsman Mosaddek Hossain, with the latter understood to be a cover for the ailing Sabbir.
