Pakistan taking inspiration from recent wins over India in Dubai ahead of blockbuster clash

Pakistan will be looking to draw inspiration from their recent wins over India in Dubai when they meet their archrivals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in a blockbuster Champions Trophy Group A fixture tomorrow.
After suffering a 60-run defeat against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy opener last Wednesday, Pakistan need to win tomorrow's game against India to keep their semifinal hopes alive.
Ahead of the crucial encounter, Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf reminded his side's recent success over India at the venue for tomorrow's match. Pakistan thrashed India by 10 wickets in a T20 World Cup group game in 2021 – their first-ever win over India in a World Cup match – and they also beat their archrivals by five wickets in a Super Four game in the T20 Asia Cup in 2022. However, Pakistan had lost to India in a group game in that Asia Cup at this venue.
Although both those wins were in different formats, Rauf said that those victories would certainly boost Pakistan's confidence ahead of the hotly-anticipated clash.
"No doubt, it will boost our confidence. We have beaten India here in back-to-back years. We will try and repeat the good things from those games and try and beat India. I hope it's a good match," Haris Rauf told reporters.
"The record is good. But it depends on the pitches. It might be a spin track. We will look at the conditions and try and use them well," he added.
Rauf, however, mentioned that Pakistan are not under pressure, insisting that they would be taking this game like any other contest.
"Everybody is doing well in the camp. We are focused on doing well. We will try to give our best and ensure we win the match. There is no pressure. We are very relaxed. We are all positive, we will approach the game like any other," Rauf said.
Hosts Pakistan, who agreed to play the Champions Trophy in a hybrid model after India refused to travel across the border due to security reasons, landed in Dubai on Thursday and had their first training session on Friday morning.
