‘It’s Bangladesh, not Australia or Pakistan’- Sehwag trolls the Tigers

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag lived up to his reputation as a snarky cricket analyst once again after Bangladesh's opening Group A match of the ICC Champions Trophy against India in Dubai on Thursday.

In the match, the Tigers recovered from 35-5 to post 228 on the board but eventually lost the game by six wickets.

Although India chased down the target with relative ease, there were some nervy moments, one of which was Jaker Ali dropping the catch of KL Rahul when India were still 63 runs away from the target.

Had that catch been taken, India would've been five down and with the pitch slowing down considerably, this could have put India under a bit more pressure.

But Sehwag, true to his braggadocious reputation, ridiculed the notion that there ever was any doubt about India successfully chasing down the target, claiming that even tail-ender Kuldeep Yadav could've chased down the remaining runs against Bangladesh.

"I don't think there would have been any tension among the fans. It's Bangladesh… you guys have made me praise them so much as if they are an incredible team," Sehwag said on Cricbuzz Live.

"It's Bangladesh, not Australia or Pakistan, that they would be very unpredictable. I don't think there would have been even one per cent of fear in the hearts of any fan during that match," he added.

"It was a very easy game. Got there with almost four overs to spare. Gill was composed, playing slowly. Had Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli or Shreyas Iyer stayed on the crease for longer, I could see this match getting over in 35 overs also.

"Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja were there. Even Kuldeep Yadav's batting would've been enough against Bangladesh."

Bangladesh's next match will be against New Zealand in Rawalpindi on Monday while India is set to face off against arch rivals Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai.
