Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and opted to field first in the opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy in Rawalpindi today.

The defending champions of the event chose to bowl as usually it helps the side batting second in day-night matches due to dew.

Rizwan expects dew to set in later tonight. "If we think of ourselves as defending champions, we will only put ourselves under pressure. We just want to keep it relaxed."

Haris Rauf comes in for Faheem Ashraf from the XI that lost to New Zealand in the final of the tri-series.

"We've been lucky enough to play these guys a lot, home and away, over the last few years," New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner said of the team's familiarity with Pakistan.

Matt Henry comes into New Zealand's attack from the tri-series final, and Jacob Duffy goes out. No Rachin Ravindra.

Teams

New Zealand: Devon Conway, Will Young, Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham(w), Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner(c), Nathan Smith, Matt Henry, William ORourke

Pakistan: Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan(w/c), Salman Agha, Tayyab Tahir, Khushdil Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed
