Akhtar blasts ‘fraud’ Babar after Pakistan’s CT exit

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar slammed Babar Azam for his showings in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, calling him 'a fraud', and also put the Pakistan team on blast for their lacklustre performance.
"We always compare Babar Azam to Virat Kohli. Now tell me who is hero of Virat Kohli? Sachin Tendulkar and he has scored 100 centuries and Virat is chasing his legacy," Akhtar said on a show titled "Game On Hai."
"Who is Babar Azam's hero? Tuk tuk," hinting at another former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq who is known for his defensive playing style.
"You have picked the wrong heroes. Your thought process is wrong. You were a fraud from the beginning," he added.
Pakistan, who are hosting their first major ICC tournament since the 1996 ICC World Cup, have already been eliminated after losing to New Zealand and India in their opening two matches.
Their semifinal dreams were hinging on Bangladesh's match against New Zealand yesterday, but after the Tigers lost the game by five wickets, both Bangladesh and Pakistan were eliminated.
Akhtar was visibly frustrated at the Pakistan team and said talking about this team was a 'waste of time'.
"I would not even wish to talk about the Pakistan cricket team. I am only doing this because I am getting paid. This is a waste of time. This deterioration I am seeing since 2001. I have worked with the captains, whose personality used to change thrice a day," said Akhtar.
"We have seen this in the past. When you tell Virat Kohli that he has to play against Pakistan, he will score a century. Hats off to him, he's like a superstar! He's a white ball run chaser! Modern-day great! No doubt about him. I'm very happy for him. He deserves all the praise," Akhtar said.
