Bangladesh bounce back in 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad
Bangladesh men's team bounced back in the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad when they handed a 3.5-0.5 defeat to Netherlands Antilles in the third round of the open section, held in Chennai, India today.
GM Enamul Hossain Razib beat Blijstra Willem, GM Ziaur Rahman beat van Bemmelen Ursus, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia beat Capella Rurik while FM Mehdi Hasan Parag drew against Anandbahadoer Rishob.
Bangladesh beat Tanzania 4-0 in the first round before suffering a 4-0 defeat to Hungary in the second round.
In the women's section, Bangladesh, who beat Tanzania 4-0 before losing to Italy 2.5-1.5 in the second round, also followed the footsteps of their male teammates to defeat Malta 3-0.
Nazrana Khan Eva beat Thornton Hayley, Sharmin Sultana Shirin beat Thornton Filipina, Protiva Talukdar beat Stagno Milena and Noshin Anjum beat Psaila Uranchimeg.
