Shakib retains top spot as best all rounder in Tests
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has retained top spot as the best all-rounder in the ICC Test Rankings.
The ICC released a revised ranking table after the conclusion of the first test between England and South Africa.
Moeen Ali overtook England all-rounder Ben Stokes after his brilliant performances with the bat and ball gave England a victory in the First Test against South Africa.
Moeen leapfrogged Stokes after his 10-wicket haul and a first innings score of 87 at Lords against South Africa.
The off-spinner jumped two spaces to fourth on the all-rounder charts. Moeen Ali became the fifth fastest to reach double-landmark of 2000 runs and 100 wickets in Test Matches. Shakib Al Hasan is the fastest to reach that double landmark.
Shakib was also the fastest all-rounder to take 100 wickets and 1000 runs having achieved the feat in just 28 matches.
Shakib Al Hasan received his highest rating, 443, during the recent Test against New Zealand in Christchurch. At the moment, Shakib is rated as the best all-rounder in all three formats of the game according to ICC rankings.
Shakib’s latest exploit saw him score 116 against Sri Lanka at the P. Sara Oval, Colombo in the first innings. He also picked up six wickets in the game and contributed to Bangladesh’s victory in the second Test.
Shakib also achieved the unique feat of becoming only the third player in history to score a hundred and take 10 wickets in the same Test. He achievement came against Zimbabwe at Khulna.
