July 12, 2015 will be etched in Bangladesh's cricket history as the day when Tigers outplayed South Africa in all departments to win the 2nd ODI at Mirpur by seven wickets.

A brilliant all-round performance from Bangladesh leveled the 3-match series at 1-1 after South Africa won the opening game on Friday.

Tigers skipper Mashrafe Mortaza must be a happy man to see his boys execute their plans almost perfectly with the ball and bat to achieve their 4th biggest win in ODI matches today.

Bangladesh won comfortably with 134 balls remaining in the match.

With the series on the line, Bangladeshi bowlers rose to the occasion with disciplined bowling to break the back of South Africa's resistance.

The highest partnership for the Proteas was 29 runs as Bangladesh bowlers struck in regular intervals helped by tight fielding from their teammates.

Nasir Hossain claimed 3 wickets for 26 runs in eight overs while Mustafizur picked up 3 for 38 in his quota of 10 overs.

Rubel Hossain captured two wickets, Mashrafe and Mahmudullah one a piece.

Having restricted the Proteas to 162 runs, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah laid the foundation for the famous victory with their 135-run stand for the 3rd wicket.

Incidentally, it was the highest partnership against South Africa for any wicket in ODI matches.

After the loss of Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das early in the chase, Soumya and Mahmudullah repaired the damage with sensible batting mixed with selective aggression.

Soumya took the attack to the opposing bowlers as he progressed in his innings, dispatching the loose deliveries with disdain to the delight of the home crowd.

He was unbeaten on 88 runs from 79 balls with 13 fours and a huge six punctuating his highest score against the Proteas.

Mahmudullah played second fiddle to Soumya in their record stand and kept the scoreboard moving with ones and twos.

As Mahmudullah neared his fifty, he took on the South African bowlers and matched his young partner shot for shot.

He was unlucky to fall at the cusp of victory, being dismissed the next ball after reaching his fifty.

The Bangladeshi middle-order batsman played 64 balls and smashed six fours during his stay at the crease.
