Dipu secures Bangladesh’s first gold at SA games
Dipu Chakma secured Bangladesh’s first gold medal in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games by winning the taekwondo poomsae event 29-plus-year category at Satdobato, Lalitpur today.
Dipu scored 16.24 points, beating competitors from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Nepal to clinch gold.
Dipu, who hails from Bangladesh’s Rangamati, said it was difficult to express himself after winning a gold medal at the SA games. “I’m still in trance. I can’t still believe that I won the gold medal. I can’t express my feelings in words,” he said.
Bangladesh had earlier won two bronze medals in taekwondo today.
