Myanmar must face accountability: Bob Rae
Myanmar authorities must face accountability for the crimes against the Rohingyas, said Canada's special envoy to the country's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
"There is no impunity" Bob Rae said at a press conference following a public lecture on Rohingya refugee crisis delivered at the Brac Center Inn in Dhaka today.
Among others, UN and NGO representatives, academics and international relations experts were present at the event organised by Brac University.
Bob Rae, who recently submitted a report to the Canadian PM, said Canada has to take a leadership role in resolving the Rohingya crisis when there has been a void of global leadership.
Bob Rae reached Bangladesh yesterday to visit the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar.
Justin Trudeau on October 24 last year named Bob Rae as his special envoy to Myanmar to address the Rohingya crisis.
As a part of the high-level delegation including ministers from 58 countries, Rae along with the Canadian foreign minister will visit Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar tomorrow.
