Rail communication from Dhaka resumes after 10 hours

Rail communication from Dhaka to the North and South-Western regions resumed this morning, 10 hours after being suspended.

Train movement remained suspended since 11:15pm last night after a Kurigram bound train derailed near the Bangabandhu Bridge East Railway Station, our Tangail correspondent reports.

SM Rezaul Karim, a station master of the railway station, said that three compartments and the engine of the Kurigram Express derailed about 150 meters west of the station, causing suspension of rail service to the North and South Western regions from the capital.

The service resumed around 9:15am after completion of its rescue operation on Joydevpur-Bangabandhu Bridge route, he added.
