Tarique, 8 others sued for derogatory remarks about PM
BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman and eight others were sued today for making derogatory comments against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
AB Siddique, president of Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad, a pro-Awami League organisation, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondol this noon.
After hearing the statement of the complainant, the court fixed February 27 as the date when it will decide whether to accept the case, our court correspondent reports.
The other accused are former Chhatra Dal joint secretary Shahidur Rahman, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Afzal Hossain, Majibur Rahman, Abdul Karim, Hafez Mohammad Didarul Islam, Jakir Hossain, Abdul Halim and Rafiqul Islam.
In the complaint, AB Siddique stated that Shahidur Rahman made various derogatory comments about PM Sheikh Hasina in a Facebook post on December 24 last year as per the instructions of Tarique Rahman, elder son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, from London.
