Tabith Awal attacked in Mirpur

BNP nominated mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) election, Tabith Awal, was attacked while electioneering in Dhaka’s Mirpur area this morning.

Witnesses said Tabith along with supporters started election campaign in Gabtoli this morning.

At the time, a group of people suddenly attacked Tabith and his supporters.

Later, talking to reporters, Tabith claimed that Awami League-backed councillor candidate Mujib Sarwar Masum and his followers attacked them while they were campaigning in Mirpur’s Borobazar area.

The attackers used homemade weapons, brickbats and eggs during the attack. 

Tabith claimed he received minor injuries.

Besides, several supporters were also injured in the attack, Tabith Awal claimed.
