DSCC polls: Khokon collects AL nomination form
Incumbent Mayor Sayeed Khokon has collected nomination papers from Awami League to contest in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) election scheduled to be held on January 30.
Meanwhile, Hazi Saifuddin Ahmed Milon has collected Jatiya Party’s nomination form for the mayoral post of the DSCC polls.
Both Khokon and Milon collected the papers from their party presidents’ office at Dhanmondi and Banani respectively today.
Yesterday, M Atiqul Islam, who is incumbent mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation, collected AL nomination form for election to the DNCC while lawmakers Fazle Nur Tapash and Haji Mohammad Selim bought nomination papers for Dhaka south city.
Brig Gen (retd) Kamrul Islam yesterday collected nomination paper from the JP to contest in the mayoral post of the DNCC.
DSCC, DNCC polls schedule
The elections to Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation will be held on January 30.
The last date for submitting nomination papers is December 31 and the last date for withdrawal of candidacy is January 9. The EC will scrutinise nomination papers on January 2.
While announcing the polls schedule on December 22, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used in the polls instead of traditional ballot boxes.
Meanwhile, the chief election commissioner yesterday said they will not use Electronic Voting Machines or EVMs in the city polls if everybody wants, UNB reports.
